How to make money with Twitter

If you succeeded building your brand on twitter on a specific niche and you leveraged your twitter potential so it’s high time you started earning from twitter account.

Depending on your account, there are a lot of ways to monetize and get off some additional bucks. Twitter can be a strong money maker especially if you live in a one of the 3rd world countries. Some twitter users can pull hundred of dollars, if they know how to do it right!

1-      Simple monetization: If you are a blogger or have a number of websites using Google adsense, then you can boost your adsense earnings with twitter. I don’t mean to drive traffic to your blog or site through twitter; you should be already doing it; but to use hootsuite (http://hootsuite.com) monetization plan. Hootsuite will shorten urls and add adsense ads to them, all you need is to tweet using the hootsuite client and add our adsense code.
This method will work most for people who has a large number of followers and don’t want to tweets ads, so they tweets contents with ads ;)

2-      Pay Per Click: If your followers aren’t wealthy enough to buy products instantly if they read the review and liked it, then you should use the PPC method, which will pay you per click. You’ll tweet the ad and your followers click it, then you credited for each click.
The disadvantage is that you may annoy your followers with your links, especially, that you want always find good and targeted ads. The other problem, is that such programs aren’t so developed. The best one in my opinion is revtwt.com, which pays anything between $0.05 and $0.2. While it can pay high for the click, ads are generally targeted for US and Europe users only, so only their click counts.

3-      Pay Per Tweet: This method can be better than the other if your click/tweet ratio is weak. Revtwt other such a program, but they have little number of advertisers and they generally pay little for the tweet. For that kind of advertising, I’ll recommend sponsoredtweets.com, which can pay you $4 or $6 per tweet. One drawback is you can’t withdraw unless you reach $50 which is a high amount for many users. The next difficulty is that advertisers choose the users who will tweet, so you have to wait for an offer.

4-      Affiliate and referrals: If you have a high potential buyer’s audience, you may finish selling products they are interested to try or use. You can use any programs for this type of advertising as long as it pays you commissions for each sale.

5-      Other method: Another good method to monetize your twitter account is to use twittad.com. Twittad will change your twitter background (but now they also do 3 tweets L ) for a period of time (3 days, a week or half a month) and pay you for it. Even if the idea sounds stupid, it does work (I already made $70 with it) and doesn’t require a great audience. The only difficulty is that the number of advertisers is relatively low.

By leveraging your audience, you should know which one suits you the best. Also by trying each one, you’ll find ones that perform better that the other. For example if you have a high click/tweet ratio, it will be useless to use the pay per tweet, because you’ll make much more with the cost per click model. If none of the monetization methods works, you may consider also the last one, which doesn’t require a successful account, but just a good number of followers to get accepted in campaigns.
